Minor Accident
Hello All, bit shook up right now!
I just pulled out across two lane traffic, the first lane I was being offered the chance to pull out, but the second lane I clipped the back of another car going past on the back left bumper.
The damage was minimal (bumper was down 4/5 millimeters and I don't much care about my banged up car.
The guy driving was a pleasant 19 year old who didn't want to claim on his insurance because he didn't want to lose his no claims. I have never had a crash and was panicked and not thinking straight.
I agreed to send him £100 to cover the damage - I failed to take pictures beyond his number plate, I did this with a bank transfer (so I have proof of it)
I have his first name and phone number, and he has the same of mine.
What should I do at this point? He didn't want to claim anything.

Forget it then job done.
You should inform your insurance but that's not what you want to hear.0 -

Inform your insurer for information only. If the other party has a change of heart or chats to mates in the pub who persuade him to make a claim and it transpires you sent him money to cover damage that you didn't inform your insurer about, you are in a world of difficulty. Cancelled insurance will cost you thousands in years to come and will dwarf any premium increase you might see as a result of this minor accident.0

Wait till he puts his whiplash claim in.0

I’m not sure what your question is - you’ve sorted out a deal for your mistake and got off lightly, and he’s had the damage you caused to his car paid for.0
