I have posted some info for anyone else who has experienced booking.com not honouring their price match guarantee. Within 24 hours of reporting them, I received a refund.
-Open a case on resolver.co.uk
If you feel they have broken the Misrepresentation Act 1967
The Misrepresentation Act exists to protect consumers from false or fraudulent claims that induce you into buying something or entering into a contract. It also allows you to claim damages.
-Call the Citizens Advice consumer helpline: 03454 04 05 06, who can report them to the trading standards on your behalf (you cannot currently contact trading standards directly)
-As they are based in Amsterdam you can report them to UK European Centre on 01268 886690 or email eccnet-uk@ec.europa.eu.
-If you paid by credit card, you can contact your credit card company and ask them to claim the money back under section 75 under the consumer credit act
Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, the credit card company is jointly and severally liable for any breach of contract or misrepresentation by the retailer or trader.
I hope the above information helps

Not really. Why did they say they wouldn't honor? Did you meet all the criteria?0 -
I met all of the criteria.
I called them prior to my holiday and they checked and confirmed by email" We're pleased to tell you that we've approved your claim as it was a better deal. After you've stayed please send us an invoice to document this and we'll refund you."
I sent the invoice and they said "Unfortunately the receipts provided do not confirm the cost of your room in total, per room or per night" The invoice did clearly state the total per room per night.
I sent credit card receipts but they were not acceptable. I had already supplied a screenshot and link to the lower price but they kept asking for it again. In total I replied to 6 emails and had one long telephone conversation with them. I can only assume they try and wear you down until you give up.0 -
Did you provide the final bill for the hotel/room with all costs included?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
