LJLA Court Date
Hi, I'm in Court for Stopping at LJLA. Generally it's being discussed on Pepipoo site but was advised to put a post on here in relation to a Lay Rep possibly coming to Court with me.

This post made earlier today may help you:
I found that post easily by putting lay rep into the forum's search facility.0 -

You are going to need to provide considerably more information than that to get any meaningful help on here.
How far into the court process are you, have you got a court date and when is it?
I assume the 'solicitors' involved are BW Legal and the parking company is VCS?
Approximately when was the ticket issued?
I'm afraid I don't frequent PePiPoo and although there have been murmuring on here about court cases being instigated re JLA I've yet to see a post from anyone 'in the know' to explain what has changed. It was previously always the consensus that with the land being subject to bye-laws VCS would never risk an inevitable loss at court at it would kill the hen that laid its golden eggs.0 -

This case has moved on a pace. It looks like VCS are finally going to chance their arm at the small claims court.
The thread has over 550 inputs (and was being handled 'off forum' for some months as well).

Whether this will go beyond the wire to face a Judge remains to be seen, but it looks much more likely than at any time previously.
The lady needs a Lay Rep to help her with the case. Hopefully someone will step forward (not that there's that many around). I believe the case is to be heard in Sheffield. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

So "Generally it's being discussed on Pepipoo" means "I've got a 28 page thread going over there".:wall:0 -

Thanks for explaining Umkomaas.0 -
IMHO the OP doesn't need a lay rep as the issues are no different from any other here.
If the OP is nervous about attending - as many others here are - there is a PSU at that court that can explain and support. The OP should give them a call.

Not sure I'd entirely agree with that. Just now reading the last few pages of the PePiPoo thread and I can see reference to legal arguments by BW Law/VCS re the extent and location of the land covered by the bye-laws and how those are impacted by the airport relocating some decades ago. I'd say that is something out of the ordinary.
Of course a well constructed defence can address such points, but understanding and perhaps answering questions on the subject could be problematic.0 -

There was a "fighting fund" of pledges built up for such a case should it come to court, so professional help could be used. But unfortunately the contributor who was coordinating it all has not been on the forum for ages, and not since this thread got serious.0 -
I agree with IamEmanresu. PSU assistance will help her nerves & with organisation of papers.
No-one needs a lay rep (unless Lamilad is available in that area. CERTAINLY forget anyone else) and a VCS case at an Airport is nothing special. They've taken Centro/railway ones to hearings before, and have lost some and won some, and they are about byelaws too.
God forbid another lay rep *situation* like in the Cardiff nurses case. No-one should be suggesting a stranger (except Lamilad or bargepole) as a lay rep.
Have people forgotten what happened there and what was reportedly said? It was all in the transcripts posted on this very forum by bargepole.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
