Hi everyone,
Being a freshly qualified ACCA accountant from a regional practice practice, with around 5 years experience.
What is the minimum salary I should be commanding?
Also to note - I am in East Anglia
Many thanks all.

I'm not in the least surprised. 20+ years ago the practice I was training at employed a chap who was fully qualified (trained at PwC) who didn't understand double entry bookkeeping - the most basic concept. He genuinely couldn't see what the problem was when he presented the senior partner with a set of accounts which had a couple of hundred pounds balance sitting in a suspense account, especially as it related to dozens of items totalling tens of thousands pounds worth of unresolved entries. He was sacked and I had to review/ rework every job he had touched. Qualifications don't always relate to common sense.0 -

Bit worrying that an accountant doesn't know what something's worth too... :rotfl:0 -

I thought accountants knew the cost of everything but the value of nothing!0 -

True, but this one doesn't even know that...0 -
Come on now, if you've nothing nice to say etc

OP you need to look at jobs advertised similar to what you would be looking for in a similar location, looking for your level of experience; that's the only way you'll get an idea.
Or maybe try calling local specialist recruiters and say you're looking for a job in the area, what kind of salaries could you expect?“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Salaries are normally agreed, rather than commanded. Experience does not necessarily equate to higher money, nor do qualifications on their own. You have to be able to demonstrate you have learned important skills and are able to employ them to a businesses advantage, otherwise you should expect to be earning whatever you started on.
As you want a guide, though, I think experienced accountants with solid skills and an ACCA would expect to start on about £35k (lower up north, bit higher in London).0
