DRP fine - do I pay, please help

Sorry to start a new thread but I have tried reading through the newbies parking fine advice and as there is a lot of information, I got a bit overwhelmed and wasn’t sure what to do still.

I parked in Sainsburys car park in May this year and over stayed the allotted time (I was nearly 39 weeks pregnant and had to find a loo urgently and I ended up having my daughter 4 days later). I never received an initial fine through the post, Euro parking owns this car park and now I have received a parking charge notice from DRP, I have been away but it was posted a week ago. It stated I was sent the initial fine to my old address which was from my log book, I had recently moved and had only changed my driving lisence and not my log book and said they have traced my new address to the one they have posted this fine to. I spoke to Sainsburys who said they can’t help me as the fine has been sold on to DRP. I spoke to euro parking who said the same. I’m nervous to call DRP as then am I admitting I am liable?

They have stated I now need to pay £130 by today (only just seen the letter myself) and if I don’t they will take further action.

From what I have read most thread say not to pay, but I am concerned as I don’t want to end up with a greater fine. I would have paid the initial fine as I was late to my car but as I never received the initial fines I wasn’t aware I had got one. I wasn’t sure if I should just call up and pay that amount, ignore it, or pay the amount they have issued. Also, what will happen if I don’t pay.

I would appreciate any advice.

You need to post this in the parking sub forum, which is where you found the Newbies thread.

In short, no don't pay these guys, they are just money grabbers and have zero power to do anything (apart from sending the odd scary looking letter) 0 was even a BBC documentary about how dodgy they are.

You've missed the point to pay any initial "fine" from Euro Car Parks so you now just have to wait to see what they want to do. They have 6 years to chase you for this fine and go through the small claims.

I would go to the parking fines sub-forum and read up on your options, you can still complain to Sainsburys, local MP etc

peanut, you already have a thread running in the parking ticket forum, and your questions have been answered there. You don't need this thread running here as well. Please just stick to your other one and everything will be OK.
