Car Insurance quotes getting more expensive!?

Firstly I'd like to say this is my first time posting so apologies if this is in the wrong place.
On to my point I am a learner driver and about to pass my test. I have been shopping around for a car and using the reg numbers on comparethemarket to get insurance qoutes. However the quotes seem to be going up and up. Can it really be that simply comparing quotes for different cars and or engine sizes can impact on the price and number of insurers that offer me quotes?
I'm 23 and have requested 30 insurance quotes through comparethemarket since August 7th. The model I'm looking at getting has had its insurance quote jump from £2940 to over £6470 over the last week since I started looking at that model again.
The only things I have been changing is the date I got my license as I wont be getting the car for a few months and I want this to be reflected in the quote so i have been setting my license date as a few months ago despite not having one yet and the start date of the policy.

It could be anti-fraud measures kicking in , the software is designed to pick up changes in your details so if you play around too much with quotes it will detect this. It is generally advised that if you want to do lots of quotes you use dummy quotes using different name and 'similar' but different details.0

Whenever you do quotes online you agree to be telling the truth.
If you have changed your licence details and presumably claimed to have a full licence too then it's easy to spot you are manipulating! You cannot be telling the truth if your dates keep changing!0 -
I would agree on anti fraud kicking in - maybe try another site?
Also prices change as you get closer to the start date, or based on how long you've held your licence so you could be triggering all sorts by changing those all the time!0 -
How long will I have to wait for those searches to leave my record if it is anti fraud0

They might not disappear.....it isn't just the comparison site , remember they get these quotes by linking to the actual insurers so they will probably have picked up on this.
I would advise you stop doing quotes until you've passed your test and then start looking again.0 -
Could be that you are a rubbish driver.....0

He hasn't past his test yet so has no driving history .
I think he has been over-enthusiastic and paranoid about getting a good quote not realising that giving false details can kick in anti-fraud measures.
Some people could be considered to be a poor driver but never have an accident so as far as the insurer knows they are a safe driver.
Someone else may drive very carefully but have had accidents so as far as the insurer is concerned they are a risk.
From experience I have found that the 'careful' drivers cause accidents because although they may do the right things they infuriate other drivers who don't want to follow them.
'Rubbish' driver is such a poor description.0 -
Is this going to permanently effect my chances of being insured at a reasonable cost then?0

Who knows....just leave it until you pass your test , you may fail first time , so no use worrying about it now.
When the time comes do one search on each comparison site , pick the five lowest insurer prices then go to those insurers individually one by one and if you get a decent quote save it.
Fingers crossed it all works out.0 -
OP best to use dummy data next time instead of your real details next time, expensive lesson"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
