Hunting for a registration!
I’m trying to hunt down a specific number plate - current style. Looking up the number on dvla reg check seems to suggest it’s not in use (Vehicle details could not be found as it has not been possible to locate the vehicle...)
However when I go on the site to try and buy it from dvla the plate isn’t available. Anyone got any ideas what’s going on with this? Or any ideas on how best to try and track it down? I’ve tried most of the cherished reg resellers.
Many thanks

Some combinations are prohibited. It may be one of those.0

No obvious reason. It’s not rude or inflammatory, there are other similar regs with just 1 letter differentJust started comping - 1/12/08 - keep your fingers crossed!0 -
Are you willing to tell us what reg you're after? Someone might spot a reason you haven't.0

Someone has most likely purchased the reg and has it on retention either to put on to a vehicle or to sell on at a later date.0

or it's been recognised by DVLA as a potentially more valuable plate and it's been ear-marked for a future DVLA auction.0

All of those three circumstances would see it not return anything on VehicleEnquiry, but have been issued. Once a plate is issued, DVLA cannot and will not re-issue it. Ever. The only way it's coming onto the market is if the person who has it decides to sell it.0
