Should a new gas boiler cost 2450?

So I have a very old boiler providing hot water and central heating for my small three-bed house.
When it had its annual service recently, the plumber reported that it was leaking carbon monoxide and so condemned it. Should I believe this? After all, the house has CO alarms that have not been triggered, and last year everything was fine.
Anyway, the quote for a new combination boiler and associated labour is £2100 plus VAT. And there is the disturbing warning that:
As the existing system is very old and will be changing to a sealed system the pressure will increase and due to the age of the radiators we cannot guarantee that the radiators will not need replacing. We will only know after we have run the system if there are any problems. Any issues will be discussed once we complete
the installation.
Do they really need to change to a sealed system?

Seems reasonable. I just paid £3800 remove old boiler and associated tanks, cylinder etc and install a Combi in a different location with all associated pipework, new room thermostat. Plus TRVs fitted to radiators. Could have gone for a cheaper boiler and saved a couple of hundred. May have got it cheaper overall but went with an installer I know and trust to do a good job.0

You want to get several quotes first and maybe ask a differant plumber to check the boiler before commiting to buying a new one0

I paid £1250 about 2 years ago for swapping a traditional boiler with a combi. Included taking out the cylinder and routing new gas pipes and trvs
I had the same thing about the sealed system but its wasnt an issue for us.0 -
If you want a combi then it will have to be a sealed system. If you choose not to install a combi and keep the style of boiler you currently have then you could get a open vented heat only boiler.0

try looking on flebay there are lots of used boilers on there and bargains to be had“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Depending on the boiler / guarentee period make and where you are in the uk it sounds about right. I paid 2.5k inc vat to replace an old worcester bosch combi with a Vaillant late last year (with 7 year guarentee). That was a straight swap it included a magnetite filter but no other pipework changes.
The warning is also normal when changing from a unpressurised to pressurised system, its just the installer covering themselves. Sometimes leaks can occur due to the increased pressure which can lead to additional work which they wont want to do for free.0 -
Sorry to jump in, but would appreciate it if those of you that have had a combi installed recently could advise how long the boiler installation took? I may need to replace my old combi boiler soon.
Is it a 1 day job?
Just trying to work out how long heating/hot water will be out of action.
Many Thanks0 -
Mine was changed in one day.0

Mine took a week. But it was a lot of new pipework, floors up,
tanks out, boiler in new location etc. I was only without water for an hour or so during that time though.0 -
