Brand New Car - Paint Repair Bodge - Compensation?

Hi,

So I am a lucky owner of a brand new car and spotted on handover some paint defects from the factory. I agreed that the dealer should rectify this with what I hoped was a smart repair.

I had to drive back to dealer leave car for three hours and then get back home so over half a day out of my schedule.

I was told not to clean car for a week and after I had it cleaned yesterday I noticed that there was uneven paint finish and it was not to what I would call factory fresh standard. So I am now working with dealer to get it fixed.

Of course the main thing is to get it fixed but I am now going to be down at least another half day of my time as I have a 45 minute drive to dealer.

What would be reasonable to expect to cover for this failure?

That's purely down to you. What's reasonable for one person may not be for another. If it only takes 45 mins to get there why are you going to be half a day down and what are your actual financial losses?

What's reasonable? Getting the car fixed how you want it.
If you're asking for compensation for your time, don't bother.
Try and keep the garage on side. In a few months you might have another issue you want fixed for free
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

You might be able to get a courtesy car to make it a bit easier to get about after dropping it off, but that's about it.

Maybe ask for the first service free by way of goodwill.

    They can only say no!

    What exactly did they do?

Do they have a body shop for paint repairs?

Hi Thank you for everyone's feed back and a quick update.

Today I got the car back and a full tank of fuel and an offer of a goodwill gesture of £250 which might be matched by Skoda to bring it up to £500.

I had a courtesy car for a week while they dealt with the car and I have been impressed with the offer. A pity I have had to lose a day and half of my time dealing with this but these things happen...

I hope this helps with anyone else in a similar situation. BTW I have had advice from other Skoda owners who have had similar problems and this seems to be a standard process to deal with these situations.
