Travel Insurance payment query

Hi,

I need to cancel a holiday as my mum who was travelling with my partner and I is not well. My mum has her own insurance that covers her but paid for the trip for us all on her credit card so I'm concerned I can't show a payment for the holiday to my insurers in order to claim for us.

Will they have a issue with this?

Thanks,

B

You will be able to show them the cost of your trip by sending a copy of the invoice/receipt your Mum paid for

Assuming her illness isn't related to a pre existing condition there should be no issue in claiming your share of the holiday cost (as long as you have the proof of payment!)
  • Hi Quentin,

Yes we can supply evidence that mum paid for the trip and that her injury wasn't a pre-existing one. We were just worried that as we hadn't actually paid ourselves that the insurer would say they didn't have to pay out and the policy document doesn't cover that scenario.

Is it normal for them to pay out for our share of the holiday even if we didn't purchase it?

    Many thanks,

    Brian.

    .
    Yes.

Your Mum's insurance only covers her share of the holiday cost

Usually one person pays for a group trip as the "lead", but all passengers need their own insurance cover - so nothing particularly special about your circs

I think if you talk to them directly, they will address your concern. You will have to submit the required credentials to them.
