UKPC court summons

I'm a registered nurse and I started working at the hospital in Carlisle. As soon as I started my employment, I was paying out money every month to park my car in hospital car park, this was about £16 per month. However the hospital reception staff could not physical give me my permit because it wasn't ready.
The money was coming out of my wages every month, however I had not received a permit to display. The receptionist asked me to leave notes on my car to inform the warden, I did this but I was still getting tickets. I kept checking with the receptionists in the hospital to see if my parking permit was ready, however, as an intensive care nurse a big part of my job was providing one to one care and even on my breaks I wasn't able to leave the unit in case their was an emergency with my patient. The receptionists opening times were 0900 - 1600 I recall, but I was already there working at 07 - 2000 and most the time, the day went quicker than a shot. However, I kept getting these parking permits.
I would literally be so busy trying my best to care for my patient and dealing with the most intense situations only to return to my car which would have a ticket on. One day, a man was taking photos of me whilst I got in my car. I said to him "I'm a staff nurse, I left my note on my car with my signature on and my details for you to check that I am paying, I haven't been given a permit- I was told it is not ready to collect' and he was really aggressive and offensive, so I left in tears.
I eventually got my permit.
I appealed, they ignored it. I left my job, it got to the point where I felt harassed at work and couldn't afford these fines. It's been two years, and I get a court summons for 910 pounds through my door. I've just acknowledged it and preparing my evidence.
I plan on going to HR and obtaining past records of my pay slips where they could see I was paying for my permit and statements from the reception staff if they remember - however it was 2 years ago and I doubt they would.
I haven't quite navigated my way through the site, as you can imagine I am beside myself so instant reaction to see if anyone else has been through this before?

This is the hospital where UKPC are being replaced by barriers as they were so aggressive.
This is also the site where they were targeting chemo patients as they knew they would be delayed by the process in getting back / suffering from the effects.
Follow the process to get the claim acknowledged and then put up a draft of a defence. We'll have a look.
Get a hold of HR and get them to look into the matter - confirm the behaviour of UKPC on site. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It's not a summons, unless it is a criminal offence to park without a permit. It is small claims court. Have you not had PCN's debt collectors' letters and an LBA/LBC/LBCC before the "summons?" Have you moved address and not updated your V5C?
Best advice is to search the forum for similar cases and then go to your (ex) employer and insist they get the PCN's cancelled.0 -
Thanks for the reply. I moved house (my family remained in the house) but I still had access to all my mail and nothing came through other than the parking charges which I had appealed. I'm contacting my old employer now. Thank you.0

Have you read post 2 properly?
First step is getting your defence ready. You do not need evidence now, however its good to start working out what you DO have vs what you can get and when by.0 -
Thanks, revisited this! Ok, I am reading up on this now.0

I called payroll today and they are sending me all my payslips for the year that I worked in the hospital. The payslips show i was paying every month as it was deducted from my wages. I contacted the security/parking department in the hospital and have asked them to provide me with the reason they couldnt process my permit straight away and requested details of when i requested the permit vs when i recieved it.
At which point will i find out from ukpc, the dates and parking fines they are referring to? As it got to the point where i ignored them. This is so i can look back on e roster so i can prove i was working a shift that day.0 -
Are you familiar with the NHS parking principles for patients, staff and visitors? From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"0 -
You could send them a SAR to get all data held, all dates, details, photos and letters sent, which is a reply that will come back within weeks (not before your defence, nut fairly quickly). I would, as it will help you at Witness Statement stage. At which point will i find out from ukpc, the dates and parking fines they are referring to? As it got to the point where i ignored them. IamEmanresu wasn't just suggesting a mere phone call to payroll. That's good but not enough, get this in writing from your HR and/or Facilities Management as well:Get a hold of HR and get them to look into the matter - confirm the behaviour of UKPC on site.
In writing, as evidence for you.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
