Credit Help

Options
Hi, First time using this site, ~
Recently i have tried to get a Credit Check, from various sites and refused by all and only allowed credit check sent to me via post that didn't give me any information on who i actually owe money to and when i asked why, i was told that they don't actually know because they're not told why people get refused, ' not enough information '

I used to work full time at the time of getting the loan and contract phone that i never paid, due to becoming disabled and now unable to work, i claim full benefits living with parents, so im a little confused as to why they do not have information on me, i haven't moved in 23 years.

Any help or suggestions on what to do or how to approach this situation would be appreciated as i really would like to clear my debts off completely.

P.s sorry if this thread is in the wrong place :/
Thank you,
Nathan

Hello Nathan, and welcome to MSE!

It sounds like they have troube identifying you. Do you have any of the following in your name:
    1) a current account
    2) a debit card
    3) a utility bill

Sounds like they are just trying to identify you before releasing the info they have, no worries! If you don't have any of the facilities I've listed above, are you in the Electoral Roll?

Keep in mind that Equifax can still give you troubles, whereas Experian might ask you for a photocopy of a valid photo ID before releasing the info.

One step at a time!

If you haven't held credit in the last 6 years then it is unlikely there will be much on your file, hence the issue where it sounds like they cannot identify you from your files. Contact the CRAs to let them know and ask what methods they accept to verify your identity. You'll have to provide some identity documents (eg. passport, bank statements, etc) but once they are satisfied you are who you say you are, then they should sort out allowing access to your reports.
