Child Tax Credits

Hi, not sure if anyone can help but I could do with some advice on whether I can claim Child Tax Credits or not?
Me and my husband have filed for divorce but are still living together until out house is sold as he has refused to move out, we have separate bank accounts and just transfer half the money into a joint account for household bills each month.
I am receiving the child benefit for the children and am paying for everything for the children as he believes that as I have the child benefit he shouldn't contribute.
We are also living as separately as we can do whilst living in the same house we sleep in different rooms, holiday separately etc.
Would I be able to claim tax credits now as I am entitled as a single person with the two children?
Thanks in advance

Yes you can as separated in circumstances likely to be permanent. I'd also seek advice from child maintenance

You should first check whether you live in a Universal Credit area https://ucpostcode.entitledto.co.uk/ucdate.

If you do you will not be able to claim Child Tax Credits, you will have to claim Universal Credit (if you qualify).

He clearly has no idea of how much child benefit is and/or the cost of raising children!
