Scuffed front left car bumper - getting it fixed?

So I had a bad moment with a verge and have scraped the front corner of my car:

I've had a couple of quotes from mobile repair men to come over and fix it. Both have quoted around £150 based on the damage.

Anyhow I wondered if anyone had experience of this, and what my expectations should be - is the area which is sanded/repainted blended in perfectly with the rest of the bumper or will you expect to see a join line? And does £150 sound about right as a quote?

I'd have a look at reviews of local garages rather than just the chips away types as you might get a better job. In theory if they can get the same manufacturer paint it shouldn't be noticeable to all but expert views. I had mine repaired after a scrape and really you could not tell there was anything done. Left it with a garage over a couple of days and very happy with it though it was £320 or so for less scrapings than that

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

As it's a plain black car then the repair should blend in quite well.

Great thanks. I've had another chap quote £90.... it's difficult sometimes to know whether you are getting a great deal or a shoddy job....

£150-£300 depending on how much repair work is needed is a typical price for a decent job.

Based on experience that would be £250-300 at my local trusted body shop, but would deliver a perfect finish.
  • Get some of this to fill the deeper scratches and gouges:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/SILVERHOOK-BIG11-Ultra-Fine-Body-Filler/dp/B00C9D5T70/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1535047550&sr=1-1&keywords=big+boy+fine+body+filler

Then Halfords matching spray paint £6.99 a can.

Less than £15; job done. Did my daughter's Fiesta bumper that way; looks as good as new. If you spend £££'s on it, it could get scratched again the next day.

I used halfords spray matching paint and results were fairly poor - did everything by the book with sanding down, paint, sanding, primer and you could see the joins, never improved even after doing it again. On a newer or quality car I'd use the pros
