Vanquis Default

Hello,

I had a default from Vanquis back in 2012, however upon checking my credit file, the default date seems to have changed to 2014. The debt was with hoist, who bought the debt.

I spoke to hoist who say it’s vanquis who need to change the default date. Hoist have received a reply from Vanquis about it.

Vanquis have said, yes the default date was 2012, but after this an arrangement to pay was set up to clear the debt and several payment were missed, so the default date was changed and the debt was sold to hoist.

Surely this can’t be right.

A default date can’t change regardless of payment history after the actual default? No?

If it were me, I would make an official complaint to Vanquis, quoting the relevant guidance from ICO. I would then escalate the complaint to the ICO if the final response was unsatisfactory.

  • That's correct.

You defaulted. You then had an AP in place - payments were missed so the account was re-defaulted again.
  • Hi Gary,

Are you saying that Vanquis are correct or are you agreeing with the 2 previous replies?

If it’s the former of the 2 then how do you know this?
