Storing photos and videos

What's a good way to keep photos and videos? I've got lots on my phone of my kids...initially I was going to print the photos and keep them in albums but I'm starting to realise this will take up a lot of space! I don't have a desk top computer or laptop, just an iPad. I want to upgrade my phone soon and don't want to lose the photos or video clips. What would people recommend please?

Google photos does the job for me to be honest. Photos's upload automatically from my phone, PC and tablet. It has the added advantage of being free.
If you download the app from the store it's easy to get started.
Of course, you should back them up somewhere else as well to be completely sure. But, get them in the cloud initially at least.
You may find that your iPad/phone is automatically backing them up anyway.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I'll check it out, thanks! Will it save videos too? Is it a secure way to save them?0 -
yes, yes.
but as rumrat said it would be a good idea to also store somewhere else such as external hard drive or even a flash drive (not ideal but better than nothing). you would ideally need access to a pc or laptop to do that."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
Plenty of options for cloud storage if you want to go down that route - iCloud, DropBox,Google Drive just to name a few. Personally I don't trust these services due to a number of high profile data leaks/hacks that have occurred in the last few years. Last thing I would want is private photos of my family being shared online.
I personally would suggest a portable external hard drive (not a USB flash drive as these are very unreliable for long term storage), and employ the use of a friend or work PC to facilitate the transfer from your phone (since you have said you don't have a PC at home). If you are concerned about data loss, backup the photos onto 2 separate drives0 -
If you're only talking a few gig of photo's then zip them, password the zip and upload to Google Drive or Dropbox. Photo wise Facebook and Google Photo's can be a bit dodgy in how they use uploaded photo's.
If you're talking 40+ gig of photos then get yourself a NAS and attach to your router else get a wireless HDD to use with the ipad.0
