Morning all! My ancient Garmin (even with....when 'free maps'!) I'd leading me all over & I feel it will be consigned to emergency back up mode lol!
Downloaded the newest TomTom Go app from play store onto my moto g6 play ( fab phone!). Got to 10.40 pm last night & had just worked out how to switch GPS on and get an arrival point out (too late to carry on last night but not worked out how to set arrival postcode and ' fire it up' so speak!).
Realise not ultra money saving but £15 a year including traffic & alternative routes seems a deal to me and will be accurate. I have a SMARTY 2GB monthly data allowance but according to the web the TomTom App uses a miniscule amount of data.
My question...apart from where I can find an easy guide to use it (!)....is that I have a working Doogee smart phone gathering dust.No Sim in it & as s
Sim was really diddley to put inMoto I'm nervous about moving this for any reason.
Can I set up the Doogee to run Tom Tom (can uninstall on Moto if needed)? Is there some sort of easy way to link it via Bluetooth etc ( not that I have a clue how to do this so any help appreciated).
Seems daft having a smartphone sitting unused.
Any help anyone?
Thanks in advance if you can help.

Just use google maps on your moto and sell your old phone to CEX.
Google maps has traffic. Your TomTom ap will require a data sim for the traffic to work so do you want to data plans?0 -
Hi! Don't use data really at all. No streaming & avoid social media. So 2gb should be fine.
So essentially need another SIM if I were to use spare phone?0 -
How do you think the app gets the information to determine traffic conditions to allow it to suggest alternative routes?
It gets it via an internet connection. This internet connection is the one your phone supplies - either connected to WiFi or via mobile data. As WiFi is improbable when you're out and about then the app will need to connect using mobile data - if this isn't available then traffic and re-routing will not work.0 -
Doam, aware data is being used as is internet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi,from what I understand it hardly uses any data.....Hence being OK for my 2GB Smarty monthly allowance.0

Like others have said, if you want it to be able to re-route you because of traffic, or whatever, you'll need a SIM with a small data allowance on it. However, if you're not so bothered about that, you shouldn't need the data.
I use the Tom Tom Go app as well on my iPhone6s and love it.Because it's fun to have money!
