diverter valve replacement

I posted on another thread that I have CH but no hot water, it was mentioned that it may be the diverter valve.

A company said they can come on Monday to see (they agree that the valve may be the problem)

£32 call out charge
£50 ish for a new valve, if thats what it is
£50 ish labour

I said I would speak to hubby (ie post on this site!) and they said `well we dont normally do little jobs like this`....which kind of irritated me as thats a lot of dosh to us
I'm wondering if it would be better to go to BG as they have the one off fix price thingy, but then its £156 in our area

any thoughts?

Can't you find a corgi fitter who doesn't have a call out charge? The guy I've used in the past has a mininum charge of £50, which includes upt to an hours labour & then extra time over the hour is charged at £30 per hour. This is in London too, where tradesmen tend to charge more than up north.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
