This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
As the forecast is for rain this morning I think that I will get on with the housework, then I can go out without feeling guilty if the weather improves over the next couple of days.
There are a few things on in the local area over the bank holiday and I want to look through and see if there is anything different that I may like to do for a change.
Gers I’m another one who wants to get back into baking. I may even bake an apple cake this morning.
TA I’m thinking of you, Mt TA and the family.
Poppy I’m gladthe treatment went reasonably well I hope that you can continue to tolerate the treatment and that it helps.
Nanny I’m sorry the news about Mr Fixit wasn’t better yesterday. xx
DP1 congratulations on the baby news :j.
Csarina I’m sorry to hear that the hospice has turned down the application for your OH. One day a week respite would have been good for you and your OH.
Snoozer hopefully the two week wait until Steve gets the final diagnosis will pass quickly, waiting for test results can be so stressful.
It sounds like you are having a lovely holiday JackieO. Enjoy the rest of your time in the IOW.
Have a good a day everyone.0 -
Morning all, thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I've been up for a couple of hours now, was woken by heavy rain, really thudding down and looking outside, the outside drain at the corner of the street has blocked. This one seems to get full of debris, hopefully some of it will start to wash away soon.
I am visiting a friend today, it is her birthday and I'll be getting flowers en route.
I had the washing machine on the timer to start about now but have switched it off as I'd prefer to see how the morning develops. The rack indoors is full of stuff airing and there's no room for a load of towels.
Thinking of all those of us who need a bit of virtual support and hoping that everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I haven't looked out the window to see what the weather is doing but I can't hear any rain so that is good. Steve has just left for work and Phoebe and Lee are still fast asleep. Lilly went to her friend's house yesterday for a sleepover and a party so goodness knows what time she will roll in today.
I had a nice surprise message yesterday as a very old friend wants to come and see me today. She has just had a baby boy and she is bringing him and his brother and sister for cuddles yay
. It has been a long time since I held such a tiny baby so I am really looking forward to it.
Lee is continuing to go downhill in mood so I am very concerned as it was this time last year that things started to go badly for him and he ended up in hospital. He is getting lots of cuddles and cwtches and he is still taking his meds but he has been abandoned again by services except for a 4-6 weekly appointment with his psychiatrist. I don't really know what more I can do except to be 'that' parent and keep on asking for help. My own mood is terrible so we are both struggling.
Something out of the freezer for tea tonight as I don't have the energy to stand and cook. It doesn't do any harm every now and then. It will probably be cod and chips as I have a craving for them. We still have a couple of melting moments left if anyone wants something sweet afterwards. Lee did a great job making them, they turned out beautifully and will definitely be made again.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and special hugs for all the poorly and worried folks on here xx0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast and raining, wet underfoot, the rain started in the early hours and there is laying water, forecast says it will stop soon - we'll see.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was a bit of a "use up" - I made a frittata, using mushrooms, courgette, peppers, cooked some new potatoes and put them in the dish to line the bottom, then layered everything else in, and put the egg/milk mixture in and cooked it til firm, very nice it was too, a little sprinkle of cheese on the top, menfolk had a breaded chicken portion, frankfurter sausage, bacon, beans and optional HM potato salad with theirs, I just had 1 frankfurter and 1 slice bacon and beans with mine, something different and nothing thrown away. I got pork loins out for tonight, so need to decide what we're having with them, may do potatoes and veg or something different. I'll sort that later.
So on to today -
this morning I need to collect the main car from DH's workplace and take it to the garage - luckily the garage has moved premises and is now virtually opposite where DH works, so will just walk back across road to collect my car once I've dropped main one off. It's in for small service and MOT - hoping they don't find anything wrong with it. I then need to visit town to go to the building society and bank, then on to work for the meeting/training that was cancelled last week and rescheduled for today. I then have all the other normal "to do" list jobs to do.
Work yesterday was manic as letters had gone out and customers were all ringing to get them sorted - spent most of the day with calls stacked mostly between 9-11 calls waiting. So customers not happy even before we've spoken to them!
Keep safe and well x

Morning Everyone,
Back to DM's house today to do more clearing.
It was raining in the early hours, but there is now lovely sunshine.
Met a friend for coffee yesterday afternoon - it was so nice to have a few hours off from thinking about my stresses in life.

Morning all.
On the run... just about to leave for Glasgow. I've decided to do my teaching from there today as I've got a short weekend there.
It's raining again but warm.
Hugs all round with special thoughts to special people.
Happy Thursday folks.0 -
Morning all
Its a bit dull and overcast here atm we are meant to be getting rain at 10 and then bright for the rest of the day, I think I will wait till 11 to take the dog out and hopefully avoid the rain.
Had a good day at dd's yesterday I took a load more of her stuff over and we unloaded that and shoved it in the spare room for now, we then took Evie for a walk and came back and did a bit more cleaning, I washed the lounge window down inside and out and then washed the front door and two other windows down, the whole house has a slight smell of a smoker about it and we are trying to eliminate it we then put some of her bedding onto wash and hung it on the airer in the hope that this would freshen the air a bit, she has the doors and windows open at every opportunity so hopefully it will clear soon.
I have the chimney sweep coming this morning, so that's a job off of my list and will mean the log burner is ready for winter we have a load of logs in too will get another as it starts to get colder.
The new cleaning lady came the other day for a look round and is starting tomorrow :jto say I am excited is an understatement this will free up so much time for us, its quite expensive so we will have to tighten our belts a bit and see how we go but I do think it will be worth it.
Not sure about dinner tonight it might be a simple egg chips and beans the fridge is a bit bare so will have to go shopping tomorrow.
Jackie O I love the story of Queen Victoria's plant I am sure Osborne house are thrilled to have one given to them, lets hope they plant it and put something up to explain the story.
Right I had better get some toast before the sweep comes, have good days all xxx0 -
Good morning all

Morning

Jackiemum That is an amazing story and I bet Osbourne House were so pleased to have a plant back...they had better look after it now
I think I have nagged you about this before but I really do think you should write a book. You are a very talented writer and the world needs to hear your stories.
Thinking about TA and Nan
Yesterday had a day of planning including some events for our book club like a christmas party (sorry for the C word) and our annual trip to London in October. Normally this is a nightmare (think herding cats) but they all seemed to be happy with the plans. Its a first
Neglected the work planning I should have done though so need to pick that up this morning. No other major work to do today or tomorrow so may tackle a couple of house projects.
Good luck to any young uns waiting for their GCSE results its a nerve wracking day for so many.
Had my lamb kofta last night and of course there was loads left so will probably end up with that again tonight. Must be nice sometimes to cook a meal and have no leftovers.
Right best crack on enjoy your day if you can0 -
Morning everyone,
Well it’s rather wet and rather cold here in EA, bit of a shock after yesterday’s sunny warmth, jeans are on!
Off for a food shop this morning, had totally forgot that it’s a BH weekend coming so a few treats may find their way into the trolley
other than that not a lot planned, Lu had the day off yesterday so a bit of lunge work may be in order.
Thoughts are with the TA’s Csarina and all those struggling with worries and cares. Enjoy those baby cuddles Dumpling
Have a good day and take care folks x0
