I assume it is a "calculate" button just has a red X (rather like a broken link / picture image). Seems to work though (at least it agrees with my spreadsheet on how much I need to save each month to hit a target in 5 years)!

The first one i tried ( for how much should i save each month ) gave me £NaN.

The second one for how long it will take to save £5,000 at £25 a month gave me 0 months.

    I get this too.

If I want £175 in 30 years and start with £100 now it suggests that I can save a negative amount each month - this is right but an explanation along with the result might be beneficial - you've got to spend to save perhaps!;)

In the ISA calculator, shouldn't the monthly amount be restricted to 250 a month, since Old Grumpy limits us to £3K a year in a Cash ISA?

The limit increases to £3.6k next year ( ). Additionally, when you plug a number in exceeding the ISA limit, the calculator assumes that it will be for more than one family member.

With the ISA calculator, I think there is a minor oversight, since we top-up our ISA's at the start of every tax year with lump sums from money saved in the previous year. I believe this is the same for a lot of people on here, since this does follow MSE advice, regarding the savings fountain.

if you use the savings calculator for a 12 month £250 per month Regular Saver, it produces 161.62 interest at 12%.

I suspect it assumes the first payment is made at the end of the month - it would be nice for it to be more flexible - if you contribute at the start of the first month you should get £195.
  • Submit buttons not appearing on the "How long will it take me to save up for something" and "I'm saving up for . . .How much should I save each month"

Seems strange as the source code on all three pages is the same, pointing to the same HowMuch2.gif file
