I have a gas metre situated unsightly and inconveniently in the dining room, is there anyway I can get this moved outside? and will I have to pay?
Yes and yes it will cost you hundreds of pounds though! see this thread, one of many. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Yes you should be able to get it moved, and yes you will have to pay, £500 upwards i would have thought0

Yes, but its always worth checking if a free move is available e.g. in electric where 6 inch moves are ok even through the wall if the cut out is outside the property.
Beyond that though, it will be a matter of setting up a project to move it and it will cost.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Sorry but the answer is yes, you will have to pay because you are wanting the meter moving outside.. The company who do this type of work on behalf of Transco is called Fulcrum Connections and if you ring British Gas they"ll be able to give you a phone no to contact them on. Hope this helps.loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

About 20 years ago (seriously) I remember having a gas leak at the metre (metre was indoors) they relocated it outside the front door, cost nothing.0 -

Yeah, but thats life threatening not cosmetic. They probably thought it wasn't helping being where it was. De-Reg has gone through since so it's an open market now. Things used to be cheaper or free years ago in many cases.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

Times have moved on, there's more competition this means where things used to be free, you now have to pay. That's competition for you!
BTW metre is a unit of length.
