Desperate to sell house but area very rough

    The value that the estate agents give you is an approximate number it isn't what the house is worth. The house is worth what someone will pay you for it. At the moment no one will pay you what you are asking for it. Someone didn't want to pay you 7k under what you are asking for it.



    If you price a house too high people don't look at it and they don't make offers. You have to price your house taking into account that it is in an area that people will only want to live in if they can't afford anything better so you can't sell your house for the same amount of money as you would if it was in a better area because people will go to the better area before they buy yours. Yours has to be much cheaper.



    If you are in a hurry enter it into a property auction.
  • This is out of left-field, but you could help change perceptions of the area. Why not see if you can hold a community street party aimed at families (so have it in the morning and end it by 2pm) or something similar. Perhaps other people in the street want the area to change too.
