Patching shed roof felt.

Hi, last year we had a 10 x 8 shed/summerhouse installed in our back garden. The roof was covered with four overlapping lengths of good quality 15 year life polyester reinforced green roof felt (not cheap shed felt) running front to rear.

Last week our decorator was treating the external wood with a spirit based preservative. His ladder slipped and some of that spilled onto the roof which is now stained as you can see in the picture.
He has offered to recover the roof completely at his own cost. This will cost about £90 in materials for two rolls of felt, adhesive and clout nails. It will require removing the four decorative fluted wooden roof trims and the two diamond shaped trims and all the existing felt and clout nails. There is a risk of damage or splitting of the roof trims during removal and replacement.
The damage is only visible from our upstairs rear bedroom windows and isn't visible from the garden.
An alternative solution would be to buy one 4 meter x 1 metre length of matching green felt and use that to cover the stained area. That would be laid across the whole front area of the roof from left to right, at right angles to the existing felt which is laid front to rear. It would be fixed in place with bituminous based adhesive and clout nails. That would cost only about £25 in total as a local shed company are willing to sell the felt by the metre rather than by the roll as they always have lengths left over from their own installations.
We want to get rid of the unsightly stain, and we are also concerned that the spirit based preservative may have affected the felt's waterproofing but we are reluctant to remove all the felt if patching will resolve the problem.
We are not bothered by a probable slight mismatch in shade due to the one year's weathering the felt has already had.
Is there any reason why this should not be done?
Thanks

If the felt is generally in good order why not paint the roof using one of the roofing paints. I painted our outhouse roof in it and I am sure it has a 15 year lifespan. It wasn’t expensive either.0
