Brittany Ferries

Hi, we are planning to go to Spain next August by Brittany Ferries and after some tips please:
Is the club voyage worth doing? It will be over £1000 so guessing with the food discounts, and 30% off it would be, but is it really 30% - it only says 'up to 30%' for promotional offers, don't really want to pay the sign up fee only to find out that's not the case!
Also is the economie service ok, we will be travelling with a 7 and 6 year old.
Any other tips???
Thanks all

The Club voyage offer 30% off the ferry fare, 10% off meals/wine in the main restaurant & a "breakfast allowance" (http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/club-voyage-travel-club). However, there is no discount on the overnight cabins and It's quite expensive unless you intend to make a number of trips per year. Also if you're travelling with young children you're more likely to use the cafe bar than the main restaurant, which is a bit expensive (breakfast at £10.50 each)
We travel between Portsmouth & Bilbao once a year and use a discount code from a Club voyage member. They get £10 to spend onboard (up to max of £110) and we get a 10% saving on the ferry fare. If you join the forum at https://britishexpats.com/forum/spain-75 you can request a discount code from a member or a club voyage member may see this post and PM you the code.
One word of advice, if you want a good cabin & good sailing times do book as early as possible. It's not the cheapest way to drive to Spain but it's certainly the least stressful. No longer trainee

As long as the price of beer is ok then I am sure you will be fine. You will need it to stop you from losing the will to live spending that amount of time on a boat...0

Ah thanks, I thought that it saved money on the cabin too, but I guess it's just day cabins and not overnight then. We are likely to only go once a year, so think we'll give the discount code a go and see how we get on with the ferry trip. We have just done the drive through France which was awful (although the kids were brilliant!) so it's got to be better than that - fingers crossed.0

And far from it being boring, and as lOng as you upgrade to a decent larger / outside window cabin (£150 EACH WAY WITH FERRY ONLY, BUT AS LITTLE AS £15 EXTRA TO UPGRADE IF YOU BOOK A HOTEL/ FERRY PACKAGE) we find the 24-hour crossing on a boat with a decent French restaurant a great way to start a hol. In the days before mobile phones and tablets meant you can never switch off, it used to be a great wy to wash away the last minute pressure of work; and yourmobile won't work on board and the wifi is flakey; so that's a blessing too?0 -

You're right.:)
I've always been told that a boat (as in lifeboat, for example) can fit on a ship but not vice versa. Makes it easy to remember.0 -
Three words you might consider before booking: Bay of Biscay...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
