Uninvolved Bank Searching my File

Hi Everyone

My first post!
I just checked my credit report and found four instances of Royal Bank of Scotland doing hard searches on my account, four times in the last four months, two searches only had 6 days in between them.

I've applied for a remortgage with the Halifax so expected some hard searches but I don't bank at all with RBS. My current accounts, mortgage and all other banking is not with RBS - I don't bank with them at all. I expected my credit rating to go down due to the application and inevitable search - but four? By an unrelated bank?

It's too late to call them obvs so I thought you guys might be able to shed some light.

Is it definitely Royal Bank of Scotland and not Bank of Scotland?

If it is RBS and they're genuinely hard searches and you have no relationship with them then you will need to call them.

And obviously ignore your credit rating.

ah! it's Bank of Scotland...not RBS, I just read it quick and just assumed

OP is sure.

Searches were by the Bank of Scotland, unroyal version. Halifax is a trading name of the Bank of Scotland, Problem solved,
