Insurance Query
Hello,
I passed my test a year ago and recently had my insurance renewal, upon renewing I noticed that I had done 7k miles while I was only insured for 6k miles. I didn't notice this at first as I thought I had bought my car on 52k but found out it was actually 51k during the renewal process (silly me) I asked for a quote from my insurer on how much it would be to increase my mileage by 1k and they quoted me £80 extra! I had recently increased it during the year from 4k to 6k costing me roughly £35 from the top of my head.
I never told my insurance that I had done the extra 1k as at the time I didn't have £80 to spare due to my second year already going up by £200 (which I haggled around £150 back off them)
My question is; does my second year of insurance start at 58k being the mileage that my insurance expired or at 59k which is the mileage that shows on my MOT for the year? Any help on this topic would be fantastic as I haven't got a clue!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed the slightest light on the topic!

From what i know, they only ask for your average mileage to calculate how much of a risk you are to them and adjust your policy accordingly, they don't track and ask for updates! as long as your honest. If you are only doing on average 6k miles in a year you are statically (slightly) less likely to have an accident compared to someone doing 25k miles in a year so you might get a cheaper quote (hence why it went up when you increased the milage)
I always give them the closest average for that year e.g. 12k - I don't track and update them at the end and they have never asked for it even after various bumps here and there.
If i was you, i wouldn't worry about it too much, stick with what you quoted originally unless you think your going to crank up the miles!0
