London trip- 1st timer

Please help: Thinking of going to London next week for the 1st time.Will be travelling on Monday morning via train- to Paddington station. Travelling with 2 children age 10 and 14. Is bank holiday a bad day to go? Managed to get good rate for travel lodge in Southwark for 1 night- is this a good location. Ideally want to…

It's a bank holiday.
You're in the middle of London and the underground is not as useful as people say. The tube map is a very poor guide to where things are.
Get a streetmap and walk where you can and use the bus where you can. Always sit upstairs so you can see the view from the windows.
The underground would be useful for big journeys, if you're making any.
