My garmin watch picks up Bluetooth notifications from my phone from significantly further away than 1m!
I would say 10m is a lot more realistic as I can leave my phone in the living room, walk through the house and sit in the garden and still get notifications on my watch.
Does your Garmin smart watch need a linking code to connect via Bluetooth ?
Yes you have to pair it with the number it generates on the watch.
Mine (and many other cheap imitations) - do not need any code - they just link when they are detected by the phone/tablet !!
Hence my concern about security.
Did not know you could link to another bluetooth device without pairing it for the first time?
Pairing does not necessarily mean inserting a code
.
I can link my watch to two different devices - both my tablet and phone (both "paired")
obviously not at the same time - but then I only connect to my phone once a day and otherwise bluetooth is disabled on my phone !

Maybe you shouldn't buy cheap imitation devices if you are worried.
