Can I reclaim PPI paid to Prudential/Payment Shield

Hi,

We took out PPI when we had a mortgage with Northern Rock/NRAM and then later our mortgage was with the Chelsea Building Society. We did have PPI but not through the banks, rather PPI was taken out separately as this was the cheaper way to go. But we got PPI because we were under the impression that it was one of those things you had to get in order to take out a mortgage. The mortgage and PPI was arranged through a mortgage broker. Is there any way of doing a PPI claim?

    What is your complaint reason?

If you sought out and bought PPI yourself, you could only have mis bought, rather than being mis sold.

What evidence do you have to suggest that anyone forcefully gave you that impression?

    When was this exactly?
What do you think is wrong with this?

Paymentshield and Prudential have nothing to do with each other. So, which is it?

  • Two separate policies at two different times. First policy was started about 2006.

Is there anything under Plevin that can be claimed?

    Prudential is probably life assurance.

Paymentshield retail home insurance, MPPi and regular premium PPI.
Is there anything under Plevin that can be claimed?

No. Plevin only applies to PPI where the tipping point is over 50% commission. Paymentshield maximum commission was under 37% (and more typically around 25%).
