Mini One lacquer peeling issue
Have a red Mini One, bought new in 2010. 45,000 miles on clock, one owner and no accidents.
Last few months blistering on bonnet (one patch) and more recently blistering under rear windscreen which is now spreading all the way along area under windscreen (seems to be happening very rapidly!).
Mini dealer seemed positive that once photos and measurements sent off to head office it should be approved for respray as they had seen several with blistering lacquer recently and these were approved. I was hopeful they would offer to do the same for me. Sadly not.
Apparently 3 years paint warranty was their reasoning. I emailed customer services Mini who did not respond, and eventually sent a very casual response as a result of an email I sent to one of the BMW Directors. Again casually stating 3 years warranty and 'this is not what you wanted to hear'. My argument is the car is fully Mini serviced, bought from new, had no accidents and the paint is not fit for purpose.
Would be grateful for comments. Yes, the car is 8 years old but I also own a car of 18 years which has no lacquer issues!

The problem is it's impossible to tell what the paint may have been exposed to during your ownership.
I agree that in normal conditions you wouldn't expect the laquer to peel after 8 years but harsh cleaning chemicals, abrasive washing, stone chips etc etc could drastically increase the chances of this happening.
(I'm not saying your to blame just looking at it from a different angle)0
