looking at heading back for 2 nights next week, on a spur of the moment trip, dont want to end up sitting about the flat for a week.
Looking for cheapish accommodation from 6 - 8 June, but can be flexible as I have not booked flights yet(travelling from Glasgow)
Any suggestions are welcome, city centre if possible though
Thanks in advance.

maybe have a look to getting accomodation via priceline?
however before using priceline have a look at https://www.biddingfortravel.com and https://www.betterbidding.com"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

There's always https://www.lastminute.com

Or alternatively, if you don't mind taking a teeny bit of a gamble as to where you actually end up, (we're going ourselves at the end of June) there is the hotel booking place inside Central Station, where you can get same-day hotel bookings for a lot less than the advertised price
We booked with Expedia last time we went, but have since spoken to several people who used the place at the station once they arrived, and they've had a wonderful hotel as a result.

Just come back from 3 wonderful nights in Amsterdam, flew with easyjet from liverpool flights were great and on time. Regarding accommodation we spoke to a few people in Amsterdam as to where they were staying. We chose the 5* Barbizon palace, right outside the train station. We booked through bookings the online booking agents. We paid 470 euros for 3 nights. Which is about £110 a night, but it was wonderful a massive room, with everything you could require, iron, ironing board, free tea and coffee, massive telly with sky sports, power shower and a ice making machine just outside out door great for those late night drinks. The location of this hotel is excellent straight across from the station, so no walking. And it has the great redlight district behind it. Good location for all the trams and the canal boats.
Not cheap, but you gets what you pay. i spoke to 3 lads who had booked through the booking place in central station. They had paid £85 each a night and were staying for 2 nights. They were allocated the 3* hotel Alpa, it is a (well swear words can't describe it) they said it was the pits and when we walked past it and had a look it sure was the pits. You had never seen anything like it and that was just from the outside. 3 girls had also used the booking place at the station again being given 3* accommodation a bit out of town. The girl said that the hotel was ok, and not to bad, but their beds were only camp beds, and 3 in 1 room were cramped.
Basically it is pot luck, but i would prefer to do a bit of research and then pay a bit extra and book. Rather than wait till you get there.
There is a pub just round the corner from the hotel we were staying at and 2 lads just came in. They asked for the price of a room and the bar lad said it was 65eruos for 2 of them a night. Now that's not a bad price. Can't remember the name of the pub, but i can give you directions if you should decided to go. it is in the same street and the 3* hotel Luxer.
Good luck and have a great time we did.0 -
Hi,
Just returned from Amsterdam. We booked at the last minute and after a bit ofd research, and redaing other reviews we opted for Amsterdam Lodge. Just google it an the website will come up in tyhe top few links along with the TripAdvosor review links.
Anyway the room cos £70 per night. Its in a good part of town being 15 mis walk from central station but quite and surrouned by nice bars/places to eat.
Bas the owner does not live in the lodge but comes in each morning to prepare breakfast, so you get your own key and can use the kitchen/louge area etc. Give it a go - if anyone needs more info on this or Amsterdam in general then post your request. No Links in Signatures by Site Rules - MSE Forum Team 20 -
Must have been there 40 times in the last 20 years,we don't go for the obvious pleasures, although we have seen all the city has to offer.
We have made some good friends in Holland too.
Last time,a month ago,we popped down to The Hague on the train for a look around.
Coming back, the train stopped at Schipol and filled up with people arriving for the weekend.
Some lads sat opposite and asked where the highlights were.
By the time we had finished explaining the whole carridge was quiet as everyone was listening!
I love the way of life there, although it does attract undesirables, but they can be anywhere these days.
Have noticed the City seems cleaner this year and there is a greater police presence.
Maybe we will move out there one day,but I don't know if I could stand the pace 24 7.0 -
I stayed in a Ramada booked through Venere.com which was very good, but so close to travelling I would look at https://www.laterooms.com or https://www.hotelscomparison.com.0
