Can I cancel a switch mid-way?

Hi everyone,
Sometimes I can't believe my bad luck. I'm currently with EDF & the cheapest tariff I'm on is finishing at end of aug.
So at the end of july/early aug, I used the moneysavingexpert energy club website & switched to npower which for me was the next cheapest.
I was happy with this until I've checked again today and now EDF have released a new deal which is cheaper than npower!
The problem is that my switch is currently in progress. Gas already done and Elec still left:

So my question is can I stop this switch now or do I need to wait for it to complete?
Also how do I switch back to the cheapest EDF deal?

You ncan apply to switch again, but it's probnably best to wait for the current switch to complete to avoid complications.
So no issue with the gas, and hopefully the electric will be switched for you soon. Hopefully you already have been given the date
If you want to use the MSE CEC again, e.g. for cashback, you will probably need to contact them to release your CEC account.
Not sure you will get any cashback, because the early cancellation of the switch to nPower, and so you will effectively be staying with EDF who may not be willing to pay as an existing customer.
But worth a try ... saying you are currently an nPower customer. (which you are/will be before any switch takes place)0 -

However if looks like you have gone past that date as the new supplier is already supplying your gas.
So I'm guessing it has been at least 17 days since you signed up to npower. (17 days is the quickest transfer period offered for energy companies)
If you wished to leave now, you should let the electricity switch complete as it is in a undefined state and may cause issues if you switch away from npower to EDF.
However I'm assuming the npower tariff has early exit fees which you have to pay if you subsequently switch to EDF.0 -
Thanks for your reply. The switch has been done and npower is now showing my account balance, Will I be charged in between by npower's tariff whilst I'm waiting for the switch back to edf? If so, then I might be better off just staying with npower.0

Have you tried telling EDF that you don't want to switch or that you want to switch back? They might be able to cancel the switch even though the gas switch is done. In my experience telling the existing supplier that you don't want to switch is the quickest way to cancel a switch and I do know that switching in the event of a scam can be reversed.0

The gas has already switched and the electric is in progress - so the 14 day cooling off perriod has now expired.
The switch cannot be stopped now, sorry.
You refer to a reversal in the event of a scam. That would involve invoking the erroneous transfer customer transfer.
What actually happens in such a case would be the switch is made and the switch back then made, although the customer is eventually treated as no switch ever occurring (it's all handled behind the scenes by the suppliers)
However, to attempt to invoke the erroneous transfer customer transfer in this instance would itself be a scam.0 -

Remember you willingly switched to npower because EDF did not have a tariff that you wanted at that time. So there is no element of a scam or anything else here. Just bad timing as EDF were slow to offer a tariff that you liked.0 -
Thanks for your help guys. The switch for both gas/elec has now taken place, so I guess I'll just have to stick with npower. They are approx £60-70 more expensive.
Thanks again.0
