What happens after completion?

We got the keys of our flat in March and I thought all the documentation from the solicitor would follow shortly after. However, almost 6 months after completion, we have yet to receive all the paperwork (including the lease contract), indemnity policies and all the other documents.
I must add that the solicitors firm we were originally with has closed down and our file has been transferred to a new firm (although still with the same solicitor we have been dealing with).
Also, having checked with the Land Registry, it appears that only the new leasehold has been updated, while the freehold is still in the old owners' names (we were supposed to be having a share of the freehold).
I spoke to the solicitor but their reply was "yeah, we know, working on it".
Am I being pushy or does it really take this long after completion?
On the legal side, since the previous owners are still the freeholders, does it make any difference?
