Is paying with a gift card worth the 8% savings we can get through perk box or too much risk?

Hi all
So my gf can buy a curry's gift card via perk box and it saves 8% so a £100 gift card would be £92.
We need a new fridge freezer so it would save us £40 ish.
Is it better to just pay with a credit card and forget about the £40?
My concerns paying with gift card are:
1) They can not get hold of stock for some reason , currently they have to place an order with the manufacture and it will take 21 days minimum. I am then stuck with a gift card i have to use at currys if for some reason they can not get the stock?
2) If they go bankrupt in the next month i lose the gift card value if they stop accepting them and do not fulfil orders?
I have never really dealt with gift cards before are they a bad idea for large purchases? We are looking at paying £450.
Do we get a 14 day cooling off period for buying gift cards online and could get a refund if there is any issues when we try to order using it?
If we purchase a gift card with a credit card and anything goes wrong would a we still get the credit card protection on the gift card? For example curry's went bankrupt gift card are void, credit card company would give us the money back for the gift card?
Any help appreciated please

For s75 to apply you only need to pay a minimal amount by card, could you perhaps pay the last £5, or even the last £1 by credit card and the remainder by gift card?
However, your points about administration etc are valid and if you ever get a refund for whatever reason it will be onto a gift card rather than cash.
It's really up to you as to whether that's worth a £40 saving...0
