Powergen - Which capped plan am I on?

I am looking to change my supplier for gas & electric from Powergen to someone else (if I can get a better deal). I have looked at a couple of comparison sites but they ask me to specify which capped plan I'm on ... ie v9, v8 and so on ....

How can I tell which one I am on at the moment? I can't seem to find anything on the bill or on the website?

Any help? Thanks!

    Hi,
in the past when powergen have released new versions of products they have not listed them on their bill or on the selfservice website. For example it would say Capped plan whether it was v8, v9 or v10. They've started to change this though.

It may be worth noting that with a capped plan you are always paying a premium for the security against price rises. Personally, i'd reccomend you switch to Powergen's Energy online Extra Saver. this means you'd get your bill online, you'd have to pay by monthly dd but you could save as much as 20%off your quarterly bills.

We were on a capped plan with them and werealways a few pounds in debit despite paying £145 a month for both gas and elec. When we switched to the Energy online extra saver Powergen automatically decreased our DD to £114 and or bills so far have always shown a credit.

If you want to have the peace of mind though id recommend one of the shorter fixed term plans, fixed till 08 or 09.

hope this helps a bit. give Powergen a ring and make sure you are on the best product.

Hi, thanks for the info, much appreciated. My last bill (june/july/august) was £144.00 but then I didn't turn the heating on much. I really need to know what capped version I am on so I can have a look around and see if changing supplier is the one for me?

Could you not just call/email them and ask?

Why do you need to know what version you are on? You know how much you are paying at the moment and all you are doing is looking for a better deal. Personally I agree with dellxps as I am also on the Powergen's Energy online Extra Saver. It's a good deal.

    Hi Geoffo,

do you know what version of the online extra saver you're on? the new version (v3) has been released and some people may be eligible for a highe discount. my discount went up from about 15% to 20%.

I'd give powergen a ring and ask to be put onto this one if you'renot already on it. however i do know that in some regions the discount is still the same.

I thought I was on version 3, but I've been on this one since April. My total discount is 19%. I'm gonna check now to see if I am on the latest one. This is one thing that does bug me about PG; they bring out a new version and only upgrade the ones that find out - rather that just upgrade everyone. Thanks for the warning
