I bought on line a patio Limestone paving pack from Screwfix @ £500.
The purchase went through payment was taken and the product was listed as in stock and delivery stated 3 days. I waited a day then I started removing the old patio and digging out the base to receive the new patio. 3 working days after making the order I got a call saying the item was out of stock,My Garden was a building site at this point.Screwfix offered to make a gesture of goodwill as the delay went from 2 weeks to 4 then finally arriving at over 7 weeks delay.
I contacted them when the stones arrived to find out what the goodwill gesture would be , the response was that the patio needed to be installed before they would release the details .
I installed the patio but in hindsight wonder if they had manipulated the situation in order to remove the option of a return. The offer by the way was a £50 voucher , hardly reflecting the 2 months of June and July that we were unable to enjoy our Garden.

It doesn't sound as if there was any manipulation. A goodwill gesture is just that.0

Where is the consumer rights question?0

The £50 sounds reasonable to me. You could have cancelled and bought elsewhere but chose to wait.
Normally with Screwfix the delivery time is an estimate, and it is best to phone to check, especially with bulky items.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
What price have you put on the loss of enjoyment of your garden and how can you provide evidence of that?
I think the £50 is reasonable. What are you looking for?0 -
I just wondered why the goodwill gesture could only be provided once the paving had been fitted as against the delivery received which was Screwfix's contract.
I am not looking for further financial recompense just curious as to why they felt that a goodwill gesture should not be offered once the delivery had been made.
The garden was not fit for use for nearly 2 x months = value ? I got it in the neck from my wife and kids . Not at all happy with Screwfix as I was fobbed off with repeated delivery dates that did not happen.0 -
The goodwill gesture could have been provided beforehand.....but it has nothing to do with Consumer Rights.
In your shoes I would have cancelled long before the 7 weeks.0 -

Nise to sea uur gramer chek wurks
LOL
thanks for the reply , reason i didn't cancel = I was matching the limestone to another area in the garden and the delay was 2 x weeks then 4 x weeks etc 0 -
It!!!8217;s not Screwfixs fault you ripped up the old patio before you had confirmation of the delivery of the materials on site.0

All sites that sell construction type items warn that you should not engage contractors or rip things out until you receive the new items. Screwfix will not have control over 3rd party deliveries, and it looks like they were let down.0
