Range Rover Evoque in 5 years time

Hi All,

I know this maybe a difficult question for anyone to answer but I was wonderinf if anyone with motoring knowledge would like to take a guess at what a 12 plate Range Rover Evoque (Diesel) will be worth in 5 years time? They currently fetch around 16-17K for one with around 70k on the clock. Looking to get one then and put a private plate on it.

(Obviously diesels maybe banned by then but lets not factor in that eventuality)

Diesels will not be banned in 2023...non Euro 6 diesels may face clean air zone charges in some other UK cities as well as London. Even when new diesel sales are banned, if ever, that will not affect cars already on the road. I don't know why people keep recycling this urban myth?

Because they believe the tripe that the media feed them.
  • How much is a similar spec 11 year old Range Rover worth now? That will give you an idea.

    £2467.83 ???

I suspect a lot of Evoques are bought for image more than practicality. Which may well be why putting a private plate on it to disguise the age is part of the plan. The second-generation is due next year so that will immediately make the first-generation less attractive to those who buy primarily on image. Difficult to guess whether there will be as much of an image-based market for cars over 10 years old when people may be more likely to choose on price, reliability and functionality There are no 11 year old Evoques yet to estimate the depreciation - but maybe look at a 2007 Freelander 2 as a guideline?

I'd be inclined to think you should buy it based on whether it meets your needs/wants now rather than whether you think you'll a good price in 5 years' time.
I need to think of something new here...
  • 5 years old, you sure it will still be working?

It'll at least half again; you'll be able to get one with 100k+ miles on the clock for under £8k. How much under? I've no idea. Will it be a good idea to get one? No idea.

You have missed the point, its already 6 years old now so it will be 11 years old.

I think the value in 5 years time is not really relevant for buying a 6 year old car - not sure how any one will know rough values unless you look at 11 year old RR E's now.

The Evoque has only been around since 2010.

The Mk2 is due out next year, so I would imagine the value of old Mk1s will drop significantly then.

Plus the interiors of all RRs have been hugely updated in the last year or so. The old pre-facelift Evoques feel very dated already.
