Hire Car Deposit Query

OK, here goes

I hired a car in Spain two weeks ago using my credit card, in addition to the deposit there was a charge of €84 for an additional driver.

Later that day I checked my credit card via the app and saw a single pending transaction of €934, which was the deposit and additional driver fee combined into one pending transaction.

Fast forward two weeks, I'm now home and have checked my credit card and found no transactions listed and have the full balance showing as available. (the balance was zero when I hired the car)

I can only assume the hire company made an error combining the additional driver fee and deposit, and have refunded the whole amount instead of just the deposit.

Anyone had a similar experience or can shed light on another scenario?

Maybe they've just reversed that original combined preauthorisation hold but will still charge the €84 as a separate transaction? The Ts & Cs governing your provision of card details to car rental companies (and hotels, etc) will almost always give them the right to do this....
