Credit card fees

in Credit cards
Hi
Does anyone know where I stand with the new legislation which bans fees for payment by credit card.
I paid a deposit on a new kitchen before the ban came into force. I paid that initial deposit in cash to avoid a fee.
The next installment is due soon.
Does the contract we signed override the new legislation, as in, can the retailer continue to apply the fee if we choose to pay the next installment(s) by credit card even though the ban is now in place? Or does the ban override the contract?
Any advice appreciated please!
Many thanks

Generally no, although there are exceptions - if you're using a corporate card, the contract was formed before 18 July 17 or it's a non EU company.0
