IRESA took money by direct debit 2 months after closure!

Hello,
don't know if this happened to anyone else, I'll just explain.

I switched the account away and was refunded the credit balance in May 2018.

Iresa the took another payment in July 2018, and then collapsed.

Clearly the taking of this payment long after closure is suspect.
Where do I stand as regards getting this back?

I have contacted Octopus who gave a very vague response that they may get round to dealing with accounts in credit at some point in the future.

Can anyone offer advice on the best course of action now to get this money back?

Thanks
Friendly greeting!

Claim from your bank under the direct debit guarantee. And for future reference whenever you leave an organisation cancel the direct debit with your bank.
