My sound has stopped working on my Laptop - what have i done??

A few days ago I went onto a website with annoying music playing over it so I pressed the Fn and sound down button on my laptop and now I have no sound at all. I have shut the PC down several times since then and tryed also to hit the Fn and sound up button but nothing happens and I still have no sound. I've also tried the mute button. i checked the Sound icon in my settings and they are all up full.
What have a I done??
I have an Advent Laptop. Any advice on what i can do to restore the sound.

you could try a system restore to the day before it happened0

I got it, for some reason the balance got turned down - I haven't a clue what happened but it is working again now.0
