Smart DNS proxy

I'm overseas quite a bit and want to watch BBC iPlayer.
I still hold my TV license but find using a VPN difficult as it doesn't always work.

Another site I was reading suggested using a Smart DNS proxy and the method of how to use it is given here for an LG TV:
http://support.smartdnsproxy.com/customer/portal/articles/1339985-lg-tv-setup-for-smart-dns-proxy

Now not being a techie I'm concerned that if I do it I might mess things up.

So:
- does this work and is it as easy as it looks

- how can I reset things if it doesn't work and screws the TV?
- do I have to make adjustments to my router?
- is it legal?
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

    They're a bit vague but -

    - It most likely works by their servers in UK proxying access to the BBC streams which is why you need to use their DNS so that bbc.co.uk is pointed at their server and not the Beebs. Of course, if their server is busy you may get drop-outs in the connection
    - Reset things by remove the custom DNS entries and restarting the telly
    - Router should stay the same
    - Probably not
