Credit card fraud

in Credit Cards
Hi all apologies if this has been asked before but hoping for a quick response.
Today we received a call from my MIL asking if we had made any applications in my husbands grandfathers name, as he had been declined a loan due to CC apps being declined at OUR address!
My husband categorically denied ever making any sych applications and is absolutely mortified. His grandfather is now going to think that he has been trying to commit fraud in his name!
I have trauled the web to find out who to call in order to sort this out but all i can find is advice for people that have had their address used for apps in their own name. Does anyone know who we contact in order to sort this out?
Many thanks

If there are ones which he has not made, he needs to dispute them with the relevant CRAs.
Experian - https://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/statutory-report.html
Equifax - https://www.equifax.co.uk/Products/credit/statutory-report.html
TransUnion (Ex CallCredit) - https://www.callcreditstatreport.co.uk/CreditReport
He needs to check that ALL data held by each of the CRAs is correct. Pay particular attention to any credit searches and any credit accounts.
If anything is wrong, then it needs to be disputed with the applicable CRA(s). If anything is fraudulent, then he would also need to report that to ActionFraud. He could also register for CIFAS, who can put a Protection Registration notice on your grandfather's credit file(s).
