Yes you'll have the same rights with the card provider as with HoF.

Section 75 protection applies provided that the item price is over £100....

There was a news report yesterday that House of Fraser is cancelling current online orders and issuing refunds, after its disputes with wholesale suppliers and warehouses who have not been paid.

So one might assume they shouldn't be opposing or unable to meet your claim. On the other hand it might be written off in the package deal though. I don't know.

Either way, the law says the card issuer is jointly liable, as zx81's reply.

I'd talk to both firms, to be clear whether you have a refusal or bad admin from HoF before claiming from the credit firm.

Off-topic, if this firm wants to restore its reputation in future, it needs to sort out its relationships with its trading partners.
  • Customers are experiencing some delays with refunds for returned goods.

I was half expecting HOF to refuse returns on items purchased prior to the takeover, but its not happened (yet)

HoF apparently (allegedly?) owe £20-£30m to their supplier who has understandably pulled the plug...

They did say they are refunding however so probably worth waiting for that before invoking S75 and getting 2x refund

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
