Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

I managed a lie in until 6.30 today, very unusual, hoping to do that again.

    Thinking of TA and Deleted_User.

Dumpling was your DH hoping for grades for a uni place? I was wondering if she might get a good alternative through clearing.

Today I need to do a bit of ironing. Yesterday I cleaned the bathroom (among other things). DS then decided to continue with his experiments in breadmaking. Suddenly the washbasin was voveted in doughy splodges. Cleaned that up and OH decided to have a shave, he does clean up afterwards but to the standard of a not very exacting wombat. Cleaned it again.

The bread was delicious, onion and herb focaccia. We had that with a chicken dish made by OH.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I woke up early, packed a few things and had a coffee and porridge for breakfast. The tumble drier is clunking and the dishwasher has been emptied and contents put away.

One of my dds is driving over later to pick me up and take me to oldest dd to stay over as her husband had had to go away today and overnight and we don't want her to be on her own with new baby as she can't lift or bend till operation stitches heal etc. Me and at least one dd will be around till her husband gets back and try to help out.

Hugs to all especially the TAs and csarina

    Morning everyone
I'm feeling quite sad this morning as eldest DD is on the train to London to start her new life. She first left home 4 years ago to go to uni, but it feels like she's properly left this time. Her train was cancelled so had to wait for the next one half an hour later....this was packed so she has no seat....hopefully she'll find one at some point as it's a 4 hour journey. She has 2 big suitcases and a massive backpack in the luggage van so she's going to struggle at the other end. She should be at her flat by 2.30 and then I can relax a bit....I've seen the contract and the receipt for her deposit and everything seems absolutely fine, but I'm not going to settle until she has her key and is in her room.
But I'm going to have to get on with my day....so time to hang first load of bedding on the line and put next pile into the machine.
Hope everyone has a good day

Busy catching up with the Daily as I didn't get onto MSE yesterday (overdid it and nearly knocked myself into Wednesday week..... again. I never learn.....)

TA I'm so sorry the news was so spectacularly crummy; I know you don't have much choice in the matter, but I'm always so full of admiration for the way you soldier on in the face of adversity.

Csarina how are you and OH managing with having the CA coming in? It must take a bit of getting used to.

Nothing exciting happening here; we've started on clearing out some of the rubbish from the loft, being as we are very aware that there will come a time when Mr LW can no longer get up there (I've never been able to, right from when I moved in here). We were pleasantly surprised that he didn't have a lot of trouble operating the loft ladder yesterday - the last time, he really struggled, and it took both of us to get it put away at the end of the day.

We've decided to dispose of the wine-making stuff; it's taking up a heck of a lot of space, and realistically, it's not essential to do, and it's quite a bit of faff.

We also culled the jam jar stash - got rid of the ones in funny shapes (square for instance) that it's difficult to get the last bits out of.

It'll be an ongoing task, but if we keep "nibbling" at it, we'll get there. The difficulty is going to be finding a home for everything in our very tiny bungalow - we have no garage, for starters, so it's all got to somehow fit indoors. L-Space needed, methinks. (Pratchett fans will understand ;) ).
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Got back home fine. Busy'ish roads still until the English schools start back.

Did DM's shopping and rubbish removal. She tried the step board and only managed seven sets before having to stop - at least she now knows where's she's at. Benchmarking!

My new whizzy router has given me 36Mb of speed :j:j a great deal better than BT's miserly 2Mb. Happy days. EDIT - that was downstairs, moved it upstairs and got 60Mb.

Off to eat, sit and read.

LW at the Fringe we went to see a show by Paul Mayhew-Archer, Incurable Optimist, talking about his life since he was diagnosed with Parkinson's 7 years ago. It was very funny and very uplifting, talking about how humour helps people.

Hi chums managed to sneak a bit of Wi-Fi in whilst the boys are camping out in the garden, (don't ask, they have perfectly decent beds to sleep in at the holiday house) but as its warm they fancy sleeping in the garden tonight :):) I bet the first unusual noise and they will be back indoors again :):)the house is the back of beyondand opposite an old church at Chale:):)bit spooky looking as well.

We went to Ryde today as we wanted to buy a few bits, and Ryde has some really good C/S that I had a mooch in.Found some lovely pastel coloured wool at a very reasonable price for my stash.

I have my DGD's dolls cot her Granddad made for her years ago in the cupboard under the stairs and I think I will get it out and paint and decorate it for my dggd Erin for next year's birthday present.I can get a small doll and knit some nice little dresses and also make a quilt and some sheets and a pillow from an old pillow case for the bedding :)

My son-in-law Simon bought my DD a lovely chunky siver charm bracelet that we spotted in an old jewellers. Its got 18 charms on and they ate all hallmarked as is the chain. Its his thank you present to her for 20 years of happy marriage, she is so chuffed to bits with it.Simon is a very uiet laid back sort of chap who rarely shows his emotions much ,but he does adore my DD and they make such a lovely couple She had been married previously and sadly it didn't last and she walked away from the marriage with her DD aged 9 months under one arm and a pot plant I hade bought her called Cyrill under the other .She said he could have everything she just wanted her freedom. Never regretted it thank goodness, and her second husband Simon, is the total opposite of Pete thank goodness.

I was so pleased she got her bracelet as they haven't got a great deal of spare cash and he had made the effort and saved up to get her something special on holiday.she was so surprised it was lovely.

DGS Jack is at home until next Thursday as he has extra shifts to get in before he leaves to start Uni.Then he will travel down with his eldest sister ,her OH and the baby Erin as they are going to have a couple of days with us all.

We spoke to Jack tonight and he is coping very well looking after himself, he says he has spring cleaned his Mums kitchen for her :):):)with the help of his g/f Olivia :) Bless him he is such a caring lad and I will miss his cheeky smile when he goes off.

Late afternon, we took the dogs for a walk along the front at Ventnor a bit breezey but very nice by the time we got back the dogs were worn out,as were we .A quick game of scrabble then lamb chops for dinner which was delicious. Now I have my feet up with a cuppa.
Tuesday Simons Mum and step father are coming over for the day they live in Wincanton Somerset so an early start for them and we will pick them up at Yarmouth. Wednesday in the morning DD and the boys are going sea fishing in the hope of catching something for lunch:) then Thursday did Katie ,OH and baby will arrive from Kent to stay until Sunday night so its a busy week family wise, but great fun and we are very family minded.

Right time for another cuppa I think, Hope everyone has as good a day as possible and our poorly folk are all OK

Take care of yourselves chums, each and everyone of you are precious to us all
