Old Style Daily Saturday 18th August 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

As I didn’t get around to doing the shopping yesterday I need to do that this morning. While I’m out I will stop of a coffee and a bit of people watching in town.

One of the neighbours is doing drinks and nibbles this evening and I will be going to that. They do this every summer and then again at Christmas, and it is nice for us all to get together, I always enjoy these events.

I want to give the bathroom a good clean today, and then tomorrow all that will need doing is a quick dust and vacuum through.

Camelot I hope that everything went to plan and your daughter and her boyfriend got the keys to their house yesterday.

Redruby the same with your daughter and her boyfriend, I hope that they got their keys and that you managed to move in properly. I hope that you enjoyed the party last night.

TA thinking about you and your family, and sending hugs xx

Dumpling my commiserations for Phoebe and I hope that Lilly’s results are better than she is expecting.

Nelski I guess that you will be dropping in on James Martin this morning?

JackieO glad that you got to IOW safely, I hope that you all have a good time.

Snoozer it sounds like Laura had a scary experience in Mexico.

I hope that you all have a decent day.
  • Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. And thank you all for the good wishes yesterday after telling you our devastating news. I had the usual rubbish night's sleep worrying away most of the night but nothing new in that.

Visitors in abundance yesterday. Mr TA's DB called up in the morning and my DB and SIL came up in the afternoon. His eldest sis and BIL are coming up later this morning.

Despite his eating/digesting problems Mr TA managed to eat and enjoy some fruit pie and custard whilst in the hospital so I plan on making a pie today. I have loads of bilberries in the freezer that we foraged last summer so I will make a mucky-mouth pie and custard for tea and hope he manages to eat some.

Have a good day if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Take care all. JACKIE enjoy your hol xx

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and breezy here this morning, but dry, so will be pegging out the washing in the hope it dries.

DH and I both enjoying peaceful cuppas, I'll be getting a shower shortly and then get dressed and have some brekkie, I'll be heading into town first thing to visit the building society then home to get on with the ironing, the mountain seems to be getting larger by the day. I'm back to work on Monday and need some uniform to be ironed.

Dinner last night was salmon en croute, new potatoes, peas, broc and parsley sauce for those that wanted some. I had baked fish and a vegetable mix that's delicious, melon for dessert. Tonight will be salad.

Yesterday I got the main job of the day done, and just one more thing to do towards that - we'll be needing to get that done over the next couple of weeks. Not sure if we're visiting the parents this afternoon, we'll see.

I'm still being relatively good on the diet, but it's seeming to be a slow process, I'm still having my wine at the weekend as it's the only treat type thing that I have, sweets and chocolate, cakes don't bother me and I haven't touched anything like that so am a bit disappointed that the weight isn't moving a bit quicker, I'll see what happens next weigh in, and go from there.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all.

    Still wet in Glasgow!

Yesterday I was busy doing things for DM - organising a plumber, paying a bill etc. The physio rehab assistant came armed with a plastic step and exercise booklet. She'll be back next week.

I think I may have solved my slow broadband woes, fingers crossed. As BT can't give me speeds above 2Mbs I've bought an EE home router. My nearest neighbours found out about it, ditched their very expensive satellite service and now getting speeds of 75Mbs. I'm going home later today so we'll see.

Usual shopping trip this morning before I can head up the road.

Lovely to see you posting TA. I'm sending you lots of good vibes.

    Happy Sarurdsy folks.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

OK day yesterday CA did not get here until just after 9am, but that was ok, OH had his breakfast and dozed till she arrived. We both went to bed after lunch and I managed another couple of hours sleep, so that looks like the pattern for the time being unless we have visitors.

About to take Oh his breakfast so he is ready for his shower when the CA arrived.

Dull morning, looks like rain, we really need it, the cracks in the ground are still huge.

    Edit....

CA arrived just as we finished breakfast so he is in the shower, the day begins............

    Morning All

DD and BF got their keys yesterday thank goodness. She picked them up 5 mins before the EA closed so it went right to the wire. I went to help her clean the kitchen but they are hopefully having work done next week so wont be moving in just yet.

RR - hope your DDs move went well.
Sounds like a good service Csarina, glad everything is going well.
    Thinking of you TA.
Sorry to hear your DD didn't get the grades she wanted dumpling.

I had to go to the docs yesterday, I hadn't 'been' since Sunday and was feeling a bit yuck. Anyway, the tablets and medicine seem to have worked their magic this morning! (Sorry if TMI).

DS1 and children coming over later to stay until tomorrow. DGD was 7 on Wednesday so will give her the present I got, a flying fairy! There is one here in the toybox that was DDs and she loves it although it doesn't work as well as it used to (DD is 26!). Hopefully a nice shiny new one will make her happy.

Must go shopping, not much food in the fridge, also need to get some prunes!

Have a good weekend. Take care. XX

    Morning :)

Holly its likely Ill watch with half an eye but they are repeats which is a shame. James is busy designing menus on my yacht at the moment so expect 6* dining when you visit which basically translates as £50 for a lettuce leaf spiralised ;)

TA Good to see you are getting so much family support which will hopefully take a bit of pressure off you. That pie sounds lush I cant say I have ever tried bilberries in fact I had to google to see what they looked like :o so pleased he is able to enjoy some tastes

Gers You are going to love super speedy BB :)

Jackie hope the holiday is going well

Hasn't properly got light yet which is a bit odd. Wash on but I doubt its going out. Got the usual Sat routine to do with my age uk call soon then a downstairs tidy. Got visitors staying next week so tidy is more important. Food wise not sure yet but may involve the pizza I didn't eat yesterday.

Crumpets for brekky then on with the day.

Have as good a Saturday as you can all especially the lovely TA family

Edited to add congratulations camelot on successful movements all round :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Morning everyone,

Dry but breezy here, have just been out to top up the bird feeders and water in my short pj’s and the wind was fair whipping around my legs!
Not masses planned for today, Lu still needs that bath but will depend on temperature. I have some good, butchers sausages for tea so might do a toad in the hole with those.

Hope Mr TA enjoys his pie.
Have fun at your drinks party Holly.
Liquorice Allsorts are good for making you go Camelot and a bit tastier than prunes :D

Have a good day folks x

    Morning Everyone,

Back at DM's house sorting stuff. I found a hidden radio yesterday. Cheerful music does lift my spirits.

Thinking of the TA's and everyone else x

  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.

Home sweet home at last, we are back in one of our usual mooring spots, we are listing badly though so CHS may decide to move on.

Very dull and overcast here, so not enough solar to run the washing machine.
I've had a sort out of my clothes, that were hanging on a hook in the bedroom, when CHS gets up I'll go through my bedside drawers as well. The space is so limited on the boat, so I'm bagging up some stuff and getting rid of it.
No other plans apart from shopping for milk and eggs today and some serious cleaning, it only gets a lick and a promise when we are moving as I'm too knackered to do more.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
