Many apologies to Edinburgh Lass, who has given advice before, but I am now getting desperate!
I got caught when my guard was down, & signed with a door-stepper:o In my defence I was in the throes of a nasty chest infection & just wanted to get rid of him. And to be fair to the company there has not been any real problem till now.
The landline is playing up & BT have said it's not their no, so how can I find out who I'm with? I've looked at the bank statements I can find, but it sheds no light.
Any help most gratefully accepted, & many thanks for reading about such an idiotic MSEr!

Who answers the phone if you dial 150?

That's the problem
the line's not working!
If folk try to call us, they get a fuzzy noise & we're lucky if the house phone rings once, but until the caller hangs up the call is charged as connected. If we get to the phone in time, they cannot hear us!!!
And I've no idea why the net is still working, but I'm so glad it is:p
We can't ring out at all, & a neighbour kindly offered us the use of their phone to call BT, cuz I assumed that I still paid line rental to them, but the automatic prat says it's not a BT no.
I think we could be with Southern Electric, but their web site is no help.......
If I were to try to go back to BT, would they know who was our supplier? And would they change us over whilst there was a problem?
If I could find a double barrelled nerd gun, I'd probably shoot myself in the damned foot as I aim for me noggin:eek:
How could I be sooooooooooo stoooopid:o

If it's broadband not dialup you might have a voice/broadband package from one provider so have a look at your login details in your router/modem. Might give you a clue.
Try this site as well http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html , just hit the start button, wait for the test to complete and it takes you to a page which should give your ISP with any luck. Probably be an easier way to do this but it's a start.Keeping the pedants at bay - dot an i or cross a t only if you feel you really can't stop yourself:p0 -
Nice thought, but BT is our internet provider. It's the calls we are having trouble with.
Thanks tho, much appreciated;)Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
