Servicing boilers

If you're worried about plumbers' wealth then get the servicing done by a boiler specialist. Our chap used to work for the boiler manufacturer before setting up on his own. He's the only service man that we've used in 20 years and we'll stay with him.
How much does he charge you?;…adding the word ‘Specialist’ to your professional working title is a great way of justifying the extra few quid that gets added to the bill.
I should know;…I was a Data Comms ‘Specialist’ for a while;….most of the time it was money for old rope,…just like annual boiler servicing.0 -
We had to get a new Worcester combi last week as our 8 year old Vaillant started leaking.
It was all corroded inside and couldn't be repaired.
We never got our old boiler serviced. We will do for this one!
The installer guy said they don't do much for servicing the newer boilers but have we have had the Vaillant serviced they should have picked up on the corrosion and we could have got it repaired before it become unrepairable.0 -

He doesn't call himself anything ...he's not the sort to have a "professional working title" ....I was the one who introduced the term "specialist" in order to distinguish between him and a general plumber. Last bill was £60 for labour which included changing a gasket which was showing signs of splitting after 20 years of use. He lives 20 miles away but tries to group jobs together to minimise mileage. Anyway our boiler seems to thrive on the regime.0 -

If a boiler is 'emitting dangerous fumes' it has developed a very serious fault.
Such a fault could develop, say, 1 month after its annual service and thus would emit dangerous fumes for the next 11 months - a Post Mortem would confirm!!0
