Problems setting up ICE and YBS savings

I am trying to set up the ICE saver drip feeding into YB regular saver as mentioned in Martin's article. The problem is getting the accounts opened
YBS say I have to apply in a branch or by post. I am not that near to a branch so I requested the application forms by post to make a postal application. Nothing has arrived.

I completed the ICE saver application online and fillied in all the details required. I then got an email and letter saying they need extra ID so I sent it off. hadn't heard anything so emailed asking if they had go the ID and they said "No, could I send it again".
So here I am weeks later and still no saving accounts plus my ID is somewhere out in RoyalMail land.
Should I persevere and get this set up or is there another combination which is easier to setup? Any help welcome.

Can't help with ICE, but I can tell you that YBS is normally very on the ball. I have two accounts with them, both are operated over the phone and I have always had excellent service.
I suggest that you phone head office again and explain the problem, I am sure you will find they will sort it out quicklyI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
If you posted or requested applications during any of the Royal Mail disputes, I would definitely persevere, sending duplicates where necessary. The originals are probably still in a sack somewhere and will eventually be delivered. Just make sure to mention that you are sending duplicates.JohalaReewi wrote: ».....So here I am weeks later and still no saving accounts plus my ID is somewhere out in RoyalMail land.

I had to send a duplicate request letter last week as the original hadn't arrived, and it has now been processed. The original still hasn't arrived. I've heard that the Royal Mail are giving 'new' mail priority over that held up by the disputes.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
Oh what a shame.
I was lucky in that I didn't have to send any ID and am very happy with Icesave.
If you can persevere, I think you'll be glad you did.

I had no problem setting up Icesave and gave them our Passport details. However just a bit slow.Bank? They are worse than the doziest Building Society.
I tried to access my account from Spain and Phone them on their 0845 number and the 0191.Could not access the account or speak to them,I emailed them and was told 24 hours later you cannot operate this account from abroad for security reasons. Are they still using a quill pen and crystal set radio?
Also they do not have secure email.
They don't seem to know what "www." means. It may improve their security but you cannot monitor the account from abroad so if there is a problem such as fraud with the account you are up a fir tree.
Absolutely useless.
MARTIN PLEASE NOTE.

Just to be clear -
Are you referring to Yorkshire Bank or Yorkshire Building Society?
If it is the bank, avoid them like the plague. Their customer service (in fact any sort of service) is dire. And if you have the misfortune to die, please don't leave any dependents, they are the worst institution I have ever come across for delays in closing the account and paying the money to the estate. They single-handedly delayed the winding up of my mother's estate for 6 months with their ineptitude.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Thanks for the replies.
YBS (building society not bank) have said they will send the forms out again. Fingers crossed they arrive this time (or the originals). I will try Icesave again. Had a look at ICICI but they don't seem to have good reviews on this forum.0 -

That could be an issue. My employer has an Italian IP address so when I surf the web from work, it looks like I am in Italy even though I am physically in the UK. So it is highly likely that I won't be able to access an Icesave account from work.

Not sure I'd want to input my personal account details into a company system which might store them on the company server..... or perhaps I'm just paranoid!I'm a retired employment solicitor. I've always felt the same.zzzLazyDaisy wrote: »Not sure I'd want to input my personal account details into a company system which might store them on the company server..... or perhaps I'm just paranoid!0
