The more professional the website, the more likely it is to be a scam.

A scam's website will have been set up within the last year or three using a template from the likes of WordPress or SquareSpace, and will therefore be cutting-edge.

A local firm of IFAs or solicitors that has been running for 20 years is more likely to have a website that was designed 10 years ago by a local web designer and has been little-changed since.

So what you are saying is to be very concerned about new companies that have just sprung up and had a new shiny website developed in the last few months? And that this is one indicator of a possible scam?

When looking for a scam one of the signs of this could be a new sharp looking website?

This is all great info on here, All I am trying to do after all is to stop my father from potentially being scammed out of thousands of pounds.

Thank you so much for your input on here.

I would point out to your father that it's not him that will be scammed, it's you. So if he is doing this for you (or other siblings) , you and they would rather not lose his hard earned money to a scam.

That's an interesting conversation to have with him. I have managed to get him to take me to the "Free Seminar" to see what it is they are selling. So that's progress.

I feel that I know a lot about them now so will see on the day what's going on.

Hopefully then my Father will book a meeting with a regulated Solicitor to get this done with some protection if it should go wrong.

Glad you are gaining along. When they, as they almost certainly will, bring up putting home in trust to avoid care home fees make sure you ask them why they think it a good idea to spend thousands on setting up a trust that will probably not be required, but if it is it willfail because it is deliberate deprivation of assets, and please feedback the BS answers they give you.

I will be asking this very question if they give me the chance! Thank you.

No need to attend the seminar to know if they'll bring up trusts:

I doubt any reputable solicitor would want to get involved.

Im thinking you are right there! that's exactly why I'm trying to get my father to go to a reputable one in order to get his affairs in order instead of using a company like this that could just shut down at any point which means he has no recourse if they get it all wrong!

    That looks suspiciously polished.
A quick google reveals the information around Trusts appears in several places on the web:

    https://foliumconsulting.co.uk/.../folium-hope-for-the-best-prepare-for-the-worst-3.pdf

Everything in this points to "boilerplate wealth management sales pitch, promoting Trusts and generating setup fees and Trustee appointment / future fees"
